Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals

What changes with REACH?
Since July 1 2007 the chemicals regulation REACH has come into effect. The responsibility for the secure handling of chemicals is now exclusively in the hands of industry.

Those affected by this are manufacturers and users of chemicals, and also dealers in them.
Producers and importers are obliged to present specific data regarding their substances (pure chemicals) and to provide proof that, in the use of their substances in accordance with legal requirements, no harm can arise for human beings or for the environment.

Substances must be registered. In the case of forms of preparation, the substances therein must be registered.
A substance may only be produced or imported when it is registered.
